To enhance the thermal insulation of building facades and reduce heat loss, measures can be taken from the following aspects:

1. Material Selection

By selecting appropriate materials, enhance the thermal insulation of exterior walls to reduce heat loss: increase the thickness of the walls to delay the heat transfer process, achieving the purpose of insulation; use lightweight materials with high porosity for the exterior walls; adopt a variety of materials.Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) PanelsDeveloped a thermal insulation structural system to address both thermal insulation and load-bearing concerns.

2. Prevent condensation on the exterior walls

Due to temperature differences on both sides of the building's outer structure, when the moisture content of the indoor and outdoor air is unequal, water vapor molecules will渗透 from the side with higher pressure through the building's outer structure to the side with lower pressure. During this process, if the temperature reaches the dew point, condensation may occur on the exterior wall, causing materials to become damp. If condensation occurs within the insulation layer, it can reduce the thermal insulation effectiveness of the material. If moisture cannot be expelled, it may lead to mold formation, affecting the material's service life. Therefore, when designing the thermal properties of the outer wall, the influence of moisture must not be overlooked. The common practice is to install a vapor barrier on the side with higher temperature first, to prevent moisture from entering the wall, while also directing trapped moisture away from the supporting structure. Vapor barriers are typically made of materials such as rolled sheets, waterproof coatings, or breathable membranes.

Prevent air infiltration through the exterior walls

Building materials are generally not dense, containing numerous tiny holes. Components such as doors and windows installed on the walls, due to improper installation or material shrinkage, may create penetrative gaps. Due to the presence of these holes and gaps, air leakage through the exterior walls may occur. To prevent air leakage, the following measures are generally taken: choose materials with high density.Thermal Insulation Integrated PanelThe addition of plaster layers on both the interior and exterior walls, and reinforced tight joint treatments between components.

Window and door opening components are sealed tightly to achieve the effect of thermal insulation for the outer wall.

In hot regions, the intense summer sun radiation causes outdoor heat to be transferred into indoor spaces through the exterior walls, leading to increased indoor temperatures and overheating. This not only affects work and living conditions but can also harm people's health. However, insulated sandwich panels for exterior walls offer sufficient thermal insulation capabilities. Specific measures include: applying a light-colored, smooth finish to the surface of the sandwich panels, such as light-colored paint, coating, or tiles, to reflect solar radiation heat; setting up ventilated cavities to form ventilated walls, which carry away a large amount of heat through air circulation; using walls made of multiple-row-pored concrete or lightweight aggregate concrete hollow blocks; or employing composite walls; and setting up an enclosed air cavity lined with aluminum foil to utilize the thermal insulation of the air cavity.

For exterior building walls, in most cases, there is a temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the building. Therefore, in the design of insulated sandwich panels for exterior walls, it is an important aspect of architectural design to reasonably address the insulation and heat preservation issues based on the climate conditions of different regions and the specific usage requirements of the buildings.
