Bricks are fired from clay, which is the product of certain aluminum silicate minerals weathering over time, known for their strong adhesive properties. After mixing clay with water, it is shaped into brick molds and then fired in a kiln (at approximately 1000°C) to create bricks. Iron is present in clay; when it is fully oxidized during the firing process, it produces iron(III) oxide, resulting in red bricks commonly used. However, if water is added to cool the clay during firing, the iron does not fully oxidize, producing iron(III,II) oxide, which gives the bricks a blue color, known as blue bricks.
The hardness of blue bricks and red bricks is quite similar; the difference lies in the cooling methods after firing. Red bricks are cooled naturally, which is simpler, hence the higher production volume. Blue bricks, on the other hand, are water-cooled (essentially an oxygen-deficient cooling process), which is more complicated to operate, resulting in lower production. Although their strength and hardness are comparable, blue bricks exhibit superior performance in terms of resistance to oxidation, hydration, and atmospheric erosion compared to red bricks.
Eco-friendly: High breathability, excellent absorbency, maintains air humidity, wear-resistant, never decays for a lifetime.
Our selected blue bricks are meticulously crafted from clay, resulting in a deep blue-black hue. They boast high density, excellent frost resistance, and are non-deforming and color-fast. The black, white, gray, and blue bricks are produced through natural anaerobic firing with raw soil, harnessing water's essence and fire's strength, aligning the five elements. These bricks provide year-round comfort at home, with environmental benefits: the trace amounts of sulfur in the bricks can kill germs and balance out harmful chemicals like formaldehyde in home decoration, maintaining indoor humidity. Combining features such as breathability, water absorption, antioxidant properties, and air purification, they have become one of the recommended products by designers in recent years. The product surface is smooth, with right-angled corners, offering high compressive strength and wear resistance, making them an ideal material for building walls and road decorations.
Embracing Creativity: Versatile, Enduring, and Beyond Tradition
The blue bricks evoke a sense of simplicity, stability, ancientness, and tranquility. In 2009, we innovatively introduced a series of long-lasting blue brick products, featuring shallow and deep reliefs, as well as modern-textured bricks. The artistic style is mainly inspired by traditional Chinese tales, with exquisite patterns and profound meanings. The design techniques are novel, blending the essence of Chinese culture. These bricks are not only for appreciation and collection but also for decorative purposes and to embody the warmth and simplicity of everyday life. They are not imported nor copied; they represent the true essence of civilization.
