White carbon black is a general term for white, powdery X-ray amorphous silica and silicate products, mainly including precipitated silicon dioxide, aerogel silicon dioxide, ultra-fine silicon dioxide gel, and aerogel. It also encompasses powdered synthetic silicate aluminum and calcium silicate, among others. White carbon black is a porous material, with its composition represented as SiO2·nH2O, where nH2O exists in the form of surface hydroxyl groups. It is soluble in caustic alkalis and hydrofluoric acid, but not in water, solvents, or acids (except hydrofluoric acid). It is heat-resistant, non-flammable, odorless, tasteless, and possesses excellent electrical insulation properties. In contrast, carbon black is a black, powdery substance formed from hydrocarbons through incomplete combustion or pyrolysis under strictly controlled process conditions.
