Low-pressure butterfly insulator

Low-voltage insulators are used for insulation and suspension of conductors in low and extra-low voltage AC and DC transmission lines. In earlier years, low-voltage insulators were commonly used on utility poles. Gradually, as high-voltage transmission towers were developed, many disk-shaped insulators were hung at one end. These were used to increase the creepage distance. Typically made of glass or ceramic, they are known as insulators.
