The joint treatment of composite geomembrane is a critical construction procedure, directly affecting the service life of the project. Quality inspections indicate that the hot-welding method is ideal (special adhesive can also be used). The hot-welding method involves heating the surfaces of the PE geomembrane to melt them, then fusing them together under pressure.
After the geotextile membrane is laid, sandbags should be used to secure it against wind movement. The edges and seams must be free of any dirt, moisture, or dust.
When welding, it is best to have a technician with experience handle the task, using a specialized welding machine for the welding process. Adjust the temperature and speed properly (adhesive bonding can also be used).
The soil must be solid to prevent uneven settlement; the composite geotextile membrane should be crack-free. The grass and roots within the anti-seepage area must be cleared. A protective layer of fine sand or clay should be laid on the surface in contact with the membrane.
