Applications and Costs of Steel Grating

Steel grating is primarily used for drain covers, steel structure platform panels, and steel staircase tread panels. It is suitable for industries such as alloy, building materials, power stations, boilers, shipbuilding, petrochemicals, chemicals, and general industrial buildings, as well as municipal construction. It boasts advantages like ventilation and lighting, anti-slip, strong load-bearing capacity, aesthetic durability, ease of cleaning, and simple installation. In terms of cost, manual welding is still more economical for several reasons: 1. Press welding machines are divided into double-bar and single-bar machines. For small steel grating workshops, the initial investment is too high. Additionally, press welding machines require transformers, water-cooled cooling towers, pressure vessels, and other supporting facilities. The preliminary preparation also involves digging trenches, cable trenches, and drainage ditches for the welding machines. 2. Welding machine power is usually 1000kV-1250kV, requiring a transformer, which necessitates an application to the power supply bureau. There is a minimum monthly fee of 50,000-100,000 USD. The application fee is approximately 800,000 USD, and the procedures are complicated. 3. Generally, if a press welding machine is used, a torque wrench machine is also needed, which is used for twisting crossbars, and the machine usually costs 50,000-100,000 USD. 4. The post-welding maintenance and maintenance of supporting equipment are actually not inexpensive. The electrodes of press welding machines are all made of pure copper, which is quite expensive. They need to be cleaned periodically, and if they are worn out, they need to be replaced. Considering all these factors and unexplained reasons, manual welding is the most cost-effective, as it only requires a punch press and a CO2 welding machine to produce.
