Safety and Management Requirements for Chemical Fiber Rope?

Synthetic fiber ropes, also known as chemical fiber ropes, are commonly made from materials like nylon, polyamide, vinylon, polyethylene, and polypropylene. 1. Properties and Classification of Chemical Fiber Ropes (1) Features and Uses Chemical fiber ropes are lightweight, soft, corrosion-resistant, elastic, and can reduce shock. Their water absorption rate is only 4%, but they are sensitive to temperature changes. They should be used for lifting smooth surfaces, soft metal products, polished shafts, or other objects that should not be abraded. For ease of handling, nylon canvas is often used to make straps, ranging from single-layer to eight-layer designs. (2) Classification of Chemical Fiber Ropes 1) Nylon Rope Nylon rope has high strength among chemical fibers, excellent shock absorption capabilities, and is resistant to alkali and oils but susceptible to acidic media and is expensive. 2) Polyester Rope Polyester rope has lower strength than nylon, less elongation, and is less affected by acidic and oil media but susceptible to alkaline media. 3) Vinylon Rope Vinylon rope has lower strength, can float on water, is resistant to acidic, alkaline, and oil media, is inexpensive, but has a low melting point. 4) Polypropylene Rope (PP) Polypropylene rope has higher strength than vinylon, is lightweight, has good buoyancy, is resistant to acidic, alkaline, and oil media, and is inexpensive.

2. Safe Use and Management of Chemical Fiber Ropes: When using chemical fiber ropes, the following safety requirements must be observed: (1) Keep chemical fiber ropes away from open flames and high temperatures as they are highly flammable. Do not expose them to prolonged sunlight outdoors, and strictly prohibit throwing cigarette butts or other open flames into the rope piles. Do not use open flames near the ropes and maintain a distance from high-temperature and flame areas; (2) When winding the upper roller, avoid winding too many turns and do not allow the rope to slip on the cable桩 to prevent friction-generated high temperatures from melting the rope; (3) Chemical fiber ropes have a high elongation rate, with nylon ropes having an elongation rate of up to 40%. They are elastic during use, which is beneficial for absorbing shock loads. Take advantage of this characteristic for cushioning applications and avoid excessive vibration; (4) Due to the high elongation rate of chemical fiber ropes, when they break, a sudden pullback can easily cause injury accidents. During operation, personnel should not stand in the direction of force or in a position that may cause whipping.

When using chemical fiber ropes, the following safety requirements must be observed:

(1) Avoid exposing chemical fiber rope to open flames and high temperatures. Chemical fiber rope is flammable and should not be left outdoors for prolonged periods. It is strictly prohibited to discard cigarettes or other open flames on the rope piles. Do not use open flames near the rope, and keep a distance from high-temperature and flame-prone areas.

(2) When rolling up the drum, avoid excessive turns and do not allow the cable to slide on the cable pile to prevent friction from generating high temperatures and causing melting.

(3) Chemical fiber ropes have a high elongation rate, with nylon ropes able to reach up to 40% elongation. They exhibit elasticity during use, which is beneficial for absorbing shock loads. It is advisable to utilize this characteristic for cushioning purposes and avoid excessive vibration.

(4) Chemical fiber rope has a high elongation rate, and when it breaks, it can snap back violently, posing a risk of injury. During operation, personnel must not stand in the direction of force or any potential whipping direction.
