Handheld horizontal safety lines are set at elevated work locations, such as suspended steel beams, frame connection beams, and other similar areas. After the hoisting and positioning are completed, construction personnel must walk on them, using the safety lines to maintain balance and prevent falls.
The requirements for the setup and usage of the handrail horizontal safety rope include the following aspects:
1. The hand-hold horizontal safety rope should be made of a fiber core 6×37+1 steel wire rope with a plastic sheath, whose technical performance should meet the requirements of GBll02 "Steel Wire Ropes with Round Strands" and possess a product production license and a product出厂qualification certificate.
The ends of the wire rope should be securely fastened to a sturdy structure, and it must be wrapped around the structure for at least two turns. A pad should be added where it contacts the sharp edges of the structure.
3. The end connections of wire ropes should be secured with rope clips (also known as wire rope clamps). The clip plates should be positioned at the end of the long rope end, with a minimum of 3 rope clips required, and the spacing between clips should not be less than 6 times the diameter of the wire rope. The safety clamp should be installed approximately 500mm from the previous clamp, and the rope end should be bent into a safe curve before being tightly secured to the main rope.
4. The fixed height of the steel wire rope should be between 1.1 to 1.4 meters; a fixed support point should be set every 2 meters; the sag after the steel wire rope is fixed should be between 10 to 30 mm.
5. The handrail safety rope is only to be used as a support for workers during high-altitude operations in special circumstances, and is strictly prohibited as a suspension point for safety belts. It should be regularly inspected for any signs of loosening at the fixed end or point, as well as for any damage, corrosion, or broken strands in the wire rope.
