Why Do Hydraulic Baling Machines Fail? 5 Common Causes to Watch Out For
2024-10-26
Today, hydraulic balers are almost an indispensable machine in every industry. Industrial hydraulic balers are primarily used as backup power sources for facilities, businesses, and even homes during power outages. In areas where the local power grid is unavailable or difficult to access, hydraulic balers also serve as the main power supply.
In fact, hydraulic baling machines have a wide range of applications. Therefore, regular protection, inspection, and maintenance of hydraulic baling machines is crucial. Proper maintenance is key to ensuring their smooth operation.
To properly maintain the hydraulic baling machine, it is necessary to understand common malfunctions that can damage them, so you know when the generator requires major repairs.
Today, I'll share with you some of the most common reasons for hydraulic baling machine failures for your reference.
Overheated
Overheating is one of the most common diagnoses in generator maintenance. In generators, overheating can be caused by various factors, including overloading, overspeeding, winding insulation breakdown, and insufficient bearing oil lubrication.
When the generator begins to overheat, the AC generator will overheat, which will significantly reduce the insulation performance of the windings. If ignored, the overheating can further damage other components of the generator, possibly requiring repair or replacement.
2. Fault Current
Fault current is any unintended high current in an electrical system. These faults can cause many issues for generators. They are typically caused by low-impedance short circuits.
If the issue is a generator winding short circuit, be sure to inspect or repair the generator immediately, as the windings may overheat and be damaged.
3. Electric Motor
When the engine fails to provide sufficient power to meet the generator's load requirements, the generator experiences electric operation. In this case, the generator system is compelled to compensate for the loss by supplying active power to the engine, essentially making the generator operate like a motor.
The drive motor will not immediately damage the generator. However, if ignored, the engine may overheat. Therefore, it is necessary to protect the engine, which can be provided by a limit switch or an engine hood temperature sensor.
4. Remanent Magnetization Loss
Remanence refers to the residual magnetization that remains after the external magnetic field is removed from a circuit. It commonly occurs in generators and motors. Losing this remanence in a generator can cause some issues with the system.
When a generator's excitation winding is unused for an extended period due to aging or incorrect wiring, residual magnet loss occurs. When the residual magnetism is depleted, the generator will not generate electricity upon startup.
5. Under-voltage
If the voltage does not rise after the generator starts, the machine may encounter some serious issues. Generator under-voltage may occur randomly due to various reasons, including blown voltage sensing fuses and damaged excitation circuits.
Another possible cause of under-voltage in generators is disuse. The alternating current generator charges the capacitors using the residual magnetism of the windings. If the generator is not used for a long time, the capacitors will not be charged, and insufficient capacity can lead to a low voltage reading on the generator.
Generator protection and maintenance are essential. Failure to repair promptly can lead to irreversible damage to the generator, including issues such as overheating, fault currents, motor drive, residual flux loss, and under-voltage.
Hydraulic baling machines are essential pillars that cannot be connected to the normal power grid, whether it's to keep lifesaving machines running during power outages or for outdoor work in construction, agriculture, and other fields.
Therefore, a generator's wire breakage can have severe consequences. Thus, it is essential to understand the most common causes of generator malfunctions to find and repair them before they severely damage the generator.
