The National Technical Committee for Standardization's Sub-Committee on Plastic Pipes, Fittings, and Valves recently announced that seven new national standards for plastic pipes and fittings have been officially implemented.

The 7 new national standards include: GB/T15819-2006 Test Method and Technical Requirements for Environmental Stress Cracking Sensitivity of Polyethylene (PE) Pipes for Irrigation Caused by Insert-Type Fittings; GB/T5836.1-2006 Hard Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-U) Pipes for Building Drainage; GB/T5836.2-2006 Hard Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-U) Fittings for Building Drainage; GB/T10002.1-2006 Hard Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC-U) Pipes for Potable Water Supply; GB/T20201-2006 Mechanical Fittings for Polyethylene (PE) Pressure Pipes for Irrigation; GB/T20207.1-2006 Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) Pressure Pipe System Part 1: Pipes; GB/T20207.2-2006 Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) Pressure Pipe System Part 1: Fittings.

The newly released national standard was formulated in accordance with international standards and revised based on changes in material technology, pipe processing technology, and environmental protection requirements at home and abroad. The main technical revisions for the PVC-U pipe material national standard for potable water include: the addition of requirements for the resin K-value, the prohibition of lead salt stabilizers, an increase in the impact energy of the drop hammer impact test, the adoption of some advanced technical indicators from foreign standards, adjustments to the hoop stress in liquid pressure tests, and the addition of system suitability tests and size grouping and定型 inspections; for the PVC-U pipe and fittings national standard for building drainage, the specifications have been expanded from 40 to 160mm to 32 to 250mm, distinguishing from municipal drainage pipe sizes, with the addition of a sealing ring connection method for pipe connections, the removal of the superior and qualified product classifications, and the inclusion of requirements for pipe and fitting socket sizes.
