In non-equilibrium atmospheres or rich nitrogen (N-based) atmospheres (such as by adding a large amount of nitrogen to an adsorption atmosphere), traditional infrared (CO/CO2) analysis or dew point methods may fail due to significant fluctuations in Pco and partial pressure (PH2O). At this point, an infrared gas analyzer can be introduced for real-time online measurement of the actual Pco value, and this measured value can be used for compensation calculation in the corrected Nernst equation. By adopting this technical approach, oxygen probes can still achieve high-precision carbon potential control, which is crucial for the successful implementation of high-temperature (such as >930°C) high-concentration carburizing processes (carbon potential >1.2%C).
