The Carbon King Oxygen probe is more suitable for measuring environments with low oxygen content. The oxygen content of the reference gas must be known and constant (usually air), as any blockage in the pipeline or environmental gases permeating into the reference pipeline can cause inaccurate measurements. Due to the limitations of the concentration gradient principle, which is influenced by electrochemical reactions and the rate of ion migration, the sensitivity and accuracy of the sensor will decrease when the actual oxygen partial pressure of the measured atmosphere approaches that of the reference gas (i.e., when the concentration difference is very small).
