The presence of carbon black precipitation and carbon accumulation in the furnace body promotes electrode degradation, shortening the probe's lifespan. During the initial pre-soaking of a new furnace, the atmosphere carbon potential is typically set very high, leading to carbon accumulation. Therefore, in principle, an oxygen probe should not be inserted during the pre-soaking process. After the initial pre-soaking, the furnace should be burned with charcoal or maintained with a carrier gas for a period before inserting the oxygen probe. The overall production process should be set reasonably to prevent carbon black precipitation and carbon accumulation. Carbon accumulation in the oxygen probe protection tube can lead to probe damage.
