Reference Air Test (Leakage Test): When the oxygen probe is operating in the furnace, clean reference air should be continuously introduced at a certain flow rate, approximately 5 to 2 CFH. To verify that the supply of reference air is normal, simply switch the control instrument to manual mode and set the display to O2 mV (if the instrument supports it). Close the reference air for one minute and observe if the decrease in millivolt signal is less than 5mV. If your atmosphere controller does not support O2 mV display, we recommend using a temporary millivolt signal measuring instrument.

If the mv signal drops quickly after the reference air is disconnected, then this probe is no longer usable and must be returned to the manufacturer for further testing and evaluation.
