Ruminant dung fermentation process
The fermentation of sheep dung is a crucial step in converting it into organic fertilizer. The basic steps for sheep dung fermentation are as follows:
1. Material Preparation
Mix fresh sheep manure with straw, sawdust, mushroom residue, dry soil powder, and other materials in appropriate proportions. Typically, 1 ton of fresh sheep manure requires the addition of 1 kilogram of microbial organic fertilizer strain, followed by diluting it with 0.5 kilograms of rice bran (or substitutes such as bran, corn flour, etc.) before evenly spreading it over the material pile.
2. Piling
During stacking, please ensure the height is around 1.5 meters, width of 2 meters, and length of over 2 meters, which aids in fermentation. The size of the stack should be moderate; a too small stack will affect the fermentation.
3. Temperature Control
During fermentation, proper aeration and turning of heaps are essential. The temperature should be maintained around 65℃; excessive heat may negatively affect nutrients. When the temperature reaches 75℃ or higher, it's necessary to turn the heaps several times.

4. Moisture Adjustment
The moisture content of the fermentation material should be maintained between 60% and 65%. If the moisture is too high, you can add straw, sawdust, mushroom residue, dry soil powder, etc. to adjust.
5. Fermentation complete
The entire fermentation process typically takes 5 to 7 days to complete. The finished organic fertilizer should be dark brown, with a slight aroma of alcohol or earth, have a fluffy texture, and be rich in nutrients.
