A laser cutting machine is a common CNC cutting equipment that uses high-density laser beams to cut workpieces. Its working principle mainly includes a laser generator, optical system, control system, and auxiliary equipment, among others. Below, we will detail the working principle of a laser cutting machine:

  1. The Laser Generator: The core component of a laser cutting machine is the laser generator, which produces high-density laser beams. The laser generator converts electrical energy into laser energy through laser media (such as CO2, fiber optics, etc.), and then focuses the laser beam into a high-density light beam through an optical system.

  2. Optical Systems: Composed of lenses, mirrors, and beam guides, the optical system primarily focuses and directs laser beams. By combining lenses and mirrors, the laser beam can be concentrated into a small focal point, creating a high-energy density spot for precise cutting of workpieces.

  3. Control Systems: The control system of the laser cutting machine consists of a numerical control system and a motion control system. The numerical control system is responsible for controlling the overall operation of the laser cutting machine, including the on/off of the laser generator, adjustment of laser power, and operation of the optical system; while the motion control system is in charge of controlling the movement of the cutting head, enabling the cutting of the workpiece.

  4. Auxiliary Equipment: Laser cutting machines are often equipped with additional devices such as cooling systems, dust extraction systems, and gas supply systems. The cooling system is used to maintain a stable operating temperature for the laser generator and optical system; the dust extraction system is designed to remove waste material and smoke generated during the cutting process; the gas supply system provides the auxiliary gases needed during cutting, such as nitrogen and oxygen.

The working principle of a laser cutting machine can be simply summarized as follows: a laser generator produces a high-density laser beam, which is then focused into a high-density light spot by the optical system. The control system governs the movement of the cutting head, thereby creating high temperatures on the workpiece surface to melt or vaporize it, achieving the cutting of the workpiece. Laser cutting machines offer versatility and other advantages, and are widely used in the cutting and processing of various materials, including metals and non-metals, providing excellent cutting solutions for modern manufacturing.
