Edge Sealing
Edge banding can be done manually or with fully automatic edge banding machines, or even by hand. Regardless of the method, the process is as follows: Apply glue to the board edge or edge banding, then press the banding onto the board edge, trimming any excess on both sides. For fully automatic edge banding machines, additional features include milling, tracking trimming, scraping, and polishing.
Edge banding is crucial for the flatness of the board edges, ensuring no steps are caused by misalignment of the saw blades on the sliding table saw. The edges must be tightly bonded; otherwise, gaps may form between the edge banding and the board edge. When hand edge banding, it is recommended to use specialized hand edge banding glue, not general-purpose glue, as it tends to fall off when heated.
2. Veneer Lamination
Thick boards are selected, sanded, and precision-cut to ensure perfect veneer pieces. The veneer is then glued onto the board surface and placed into a hot press for precise alignment or trimming.
