PVC Water Supply Pipes vs. Standard Water Supply Pipes
01. Longer lifespan
Compared to commonly used piping materials like PE water pipes and cement pipes, the service life varies. Ordinary pipes, such as iron pipes, are prone to rusting and can produce polluting chemicals over long periods of disuse. In contrast, PE water pipes are made of plastic, which is not susceptible to rust and has a longer lifespan.
02. PEX pipe for enhanced safety
Traditional copper pipes typically have a lifespan of about three to four years, easily leading to leaks of wastewater and groundwater contamination. Some groundwater infiltrates the wastewater pipes, reducing the wastewater concentration. However, PE water supply pipes, being made of high-density polyethylene, are less prone to breakage and leaks, thus ensuring no contamination of water resources.
03. PEX pipe is more resistant to high temperatures
Traditional copper pipes, when leaking, can easily wash away soil around the pipeline network, causing building foundations to loosen and even ground subsidence. Additionally, cast iron pipes are prone to internal scaling and corrosion. However, PE water pipes do not have these issues. They can even operate normally at temperatures above the boiling point, far superior to other pipes.
PVC Pipe vs Plastic Pipe
In the comparison between PE water supply pipes and plastic pipes, it is evident that in colder conditions, the material of plastic pipes tends to become brittle. This means that they can easily break under certain external forces. Consequently, in terms of lifespan, there is little guarantee. Although they may be cheaper than PE water supply pipes, the cost of repairs and replacements is quite high.
PVC Pipe vs. Steel Pipe
Certainly, steel pipes possess exceptional structural stability and are also lightweight. However, due to the inherent properties of steel, they tend to freeze easily during use, significantly impacting their suitability. Additionally, steel pipes are more expensive than PE water supply pipes in terms of production costs. Therefore, considering the cost-performance ratio of these properties, PE water supply pipes are generally more frequently used.
All the above facts illustrate that PEX pipes are the superior choice for water supply lines!
