Our factory is located in Haicheng City, Liaoning Province, specializing in the production of talcum powder series products. Calcined talcum powder, like common talcum powder, is a white powdery solid with an oily feel when touched by hand. The specifications are divided by fineness, including 200 mesh, 325 mesh, 500 mesh, 600 mesh, 800 mesh, and 1250 mesh. Those below 400 mesh can be processed into powder through Raymond mill or high-pressure powder mill, while those above 500 mesh require ultra-fine powder mill or micro-powder mill for grinding. Now, what are the subtle differences between calcined talcum powder and common talcum powder?
The main differences lie in the brightness, composition, and viscosity. The calcined talc powder has a significant reduction in calcium carbonate, and the product is processed through a series of processes such as mining, crushing, and acid washing. Therefore, the color is not very white.
Talc powder is a white or off-white, fine, non-abrasive powder with an oily feel when touched, odorless, and tasteless. The mined talc is directly ground and processed into finished powder using a Raymond mill or other high-pressure grinding machine, which is then packaged in woven bags for sale. Talc possesses excellent physical and chemical properties such as lubricity, anti-adhesion, flow aid, and耐火性(fire resistance), making its applications widespread.
Applications of calcined talc powder primarily include as a bonding agent in rubber and plastic resins, especially aiding in processing and shaping foamed products, which can shorten molding time and increase productivity during processing, whether through molding, extrusion, or casting. In rubber resin, calcined talc powder can alter product properties by enhancing tensile strength, impact resistance, shear strength, flexural strength, hardness, reducing deformation, elongation, and coefficient of thermal expansion. Its use in improving the processing properties of rubber and plastic resins, such as molding, calendering, extrusion, and injection molding, can also substitute for up to 10-15% of more expensive rubber materials to lower raw material costs.
Calcined talcum powder is also a type of heat agent, as it contains high-grade fatty acid esters. Besides serving as a lubricant for rubber and plastic products, it can also react with the precipitated HCl, rendering the HCL ineffective in cleavage.
Burnt talc is primarily used as a thickener in rubber and plastic resins, particularly aiding in the processing and molding of foamed products. It can shorten molding time and boost productivity, whether through die pressing or extrusion molding. The burnt talc enhances tactile feel and reduces static effects. When strongly powdered talc is incorporated into the rubber, the product becomes more conducive to printing and decoration.
Calcined talcum powder serves as an antioxidant due to its aromatic compounds, which prevent the bonds in aggregates from breaking under heat, light, or oxygen.
Additionally, calcined talcum powder is suitable for paint and coatings applications due to its resistance to sunlight exposure and high temperatures. It does not change color under UV light, maintaining its original luster and color over time. It boasts good resistance to acidic and alkaline corrosion, excellent water resistance, strong resistance to dirt, aging, and abrasion, as well as steam resistance and chemical stability. It also has strong flame-retardant properties.
