Introduction to waterproof covers for wooden boxes:
Function
Waterproof and moisture-proof: Effectively blocks the intrusion of water from rain, dew, snow, etc., into the wooden box interior, preventing items inside from getting damp, molding, rusting, or being damaged due to moisture. Ensures the quality and performance stability of the contents, and for wooden boxes for sea export, it also resists sea water erosion.
Protect wooden crates: Minimize direct contact of wooden crates with external damp environments, reduce the risk of wood moisture deformation and rot, extend the service life of the crates, and indirectly protect the goods inside.
Dust and Stain Resistant: Prevents dust, soil, and stains from adhering to the surface of the wooden box and entering its interior, ensuring cleanliness of both the box and its contents.
Common Materials
PVC Coated Fabric: Mainly composed of polyvinyl chloride, produced through high-temperature hot-molding processing. Features excellent anti-mold properties, good waterproofing, low-temperature softness, high strength, strong tensile strength, relatively lightweight, non-flammable, and resistance to climate changes. It also boasts excellent geometric stability. The surface is coated with various chemical additives, effectively preventing aging and wear. Widely used in wooden box packaging for export, warehousing, and transportation.
Scotch-guard Fabric: A high-intensity waterproof fabric made from a woven base of high-tensile polyester, enhanced with high-quality resin powder, plasticizers, and stabilizers. It boasts features such as waterproofing, sun protection, high-temperature resistance, scratch and abrasion resistance, tear resistance, and frost and cold protection. It can be processed with waterproof zippers, wider hook-and-loop fasteners, etc., for easy disassembly and installation. The bottom usually features galvanized eyelets for rope fixation, making it an excellent material for wooden box rain covers.
PE Waterproof Fabric: Made primarily from polyethylene, it boasts soft texture, light weight, excellent waterproofing properties, and relatively low price. Suitable for various sizes of wooden box packaging, it provides basic rain and moisture protection, commonly used in scenarios such as storage yards, warehouses, and outdoor storage.
Canvas: Traditionally waterproof canvas, after treatment, can also be used as a rain cover for wooden boxes. It offers certain strength and abrasion resistance, capable of withstanding some degree of friction and impact. However, its waterproof performance may be slightly inferior to PVC coated fabric and scratch-resistant fabric. Nonetheless, it has better breathability than the latter two, making it suitable for situations where high waterproof requirements are not a must.
Metal Sheets: Including color-coated steel sheets, stainless steel sheets, galvanized steel sheets, etc., known for their sturdy and durable nature, excellent waterproofing, and fire-resistant properties. Suitable for special wooden boxes with high requirements for rain protection and protection, such as those used for storing precision instruments and important documents. However, metal sheets are heavier, more expensive, and more complex to install.
