1. Steel Structure Design
(1) During the design of the roof rainwater system, overflow measures were not set in accordance with regulations. If the rainwater exceeds the drainage capacity of the system, it may overflow at the joints, causing leaks in the steel roof. Among them, roofs connected by hidden clips and nail plates are highly susceptible to severe water leakage.
(2) Lacking detailed design plans for fine details such as window lintels, roof flashing, and阴阳 corners, the construction team's insufficient experience hindered strict execution, leading to leaks.
(3) The design of the roof purlins features excessively small cross-sections and large spacing, leading to excessive deformation of the purlins and corrugated steel sheets under wind loads. This results in structural defects and water accumulation on the roof.
Management Measures:
(1) Based on the thermal expansion and contraction characteristics of steel roof structures, a rational roof system is selected, featuring a floating roof structure. The roof panels are horizontally locked using a tongue-and-groove design, with vertical seams sealed. The longitudinal joints are connected by an interlayer extrusion method. Additionally, the overlap length of the roof should not be less than 40 mm. This structural system boasts features such as sliding capabilities, excellent sealing, good waterproofing performance, and strong wind resistance.
Ensure the design strictly adheres to the specification requirements for the roof rainwater system and implements overflow measures. Additionally, supplement detailed drawings of window sills, roof coping boards, and阴阳 corners to prevent water leakage.
2. Construction
(1) The welding quality of the gutter is insufficient, the anti-corrosion treatment of the materials is inadequate, or the insulation measures below the gutter are not properly executed, leading to gutter leaks. Additionally, with significant temperature variations in summer, condensation is more likely to occur.
(2) The wall lintels are not straight, there are gaps between the wall lintels and the window frames, or there are sealing issues between the bottom window opening and the steel structure, as well as between the window glass and the profile materials, causing water leakage at the upper window opening's water shedding edge and accumulating water at the lower eaves.
(3) Critical construction milestones were not constructed or handled according to specifications, such as inadequate sealing at the short ends of the rolled materials, insufficient fixation points, deformation of the upper iron sheet, poor sealing of the sealing material, and the absence or insufficient curvature at the root of the parapet wall, which consequently led to roof leakage.
Management Measures
Prior to installing the roof outer panels, use a specialized color steel clamp to bend the roof outer panels, ensuring the height is between 50 to 70 millimeters. During installation, the gap between the roof outer panels at the ridge should be 50 to 100 millimeters. Additionally, it is prohibited to use blank nails when securing the outer panels.
(2) Besides stainless steel, the trough should undergo a water-tightness test after welding. In case of leaks, prompt reinforcement welding is required. Additionally, an overflow device can be installed at 150mm from the trough to prevent rainwater from spilling over the edge and entering the indoor space.
(3) To prevent temperature distortion, the joint between the brick wall and the light steel roof should be sealed twice. When connecting with the brick wall, the sealed edge should maintain a certain angle and then be fully sealed. Additionally, sealant should be used to seal the edges.
