Working Principle
A drum dryer is a continuous rotating drying equipment with internal heat conduction. The rotating drum, through its lower trough, adheres a thick layer of material film. Heat is transferred to the inner wall of the drum via pipes, then conducted to the outer wall of the drum and further to the material film, causing the moisture in the film to evaporate and dehydrate, thereby drying the material with moisture content. The dried material is scraped off the drum surface by a blade and transferred to a spiral conveyor underneath, where it is concentrated and packaged.1.jpg
Performance Features
High thermal efficiency. As the drum dryer's heat transfer mechanism is heat conduction, the heat transfer direction remains consistent throughout the entire operation cycle. Apart from the heat loss due to cover ventilation and radiation, all the remaining heat is used for the evaporation of moisture in the drum material film, achieving a thermal efficiency of 70%-80%.
High operational flexibility and wide applicability. Multiple drying factors of the adjustable drum dryer can be adjusted, such as the concentration of the incoming material, the thickness of the coating film, the temperature of the heating medium, and the rotation speed of the drum. All these factors can alter the drying efficiency of the drum dryer, and they are mutually independent. This greatly facilitates drum drying operations, allowing it to accommodate the drying of various materials and meet different production output requirements.
Short drying time. The drying cycle of the material typically ranges from 10 to 300 seconds, suitable for thermosensitive materials. If the drum dryer is set in a vacuum chamber, it can operate under reduced pressure conditions.
High drying rate. Due to the thin coating film applied to the cylinder wall, typically ranging from 0.3 to 1.5mm, and with consistent heat and mass transfer directions, the surface of the film can maintain an evaporation intensity of 20-70 kg.H₂O/m².h.
Adaptable material
Drying for liquid or thick materials in industries such as chemicals, dyes, pharmaceuticals, food, and metallurgy.
Installation
The installation of this unit is based on the overall layout, requiring a level ground. A pressure gauge and a safety valve must be installed at the steam pipe inlet, and all steam inlet flanges must be securely connected.
Maintain
Regularly inspect the rotational components for flexibility and any binding issues. Regularly apply lubricant to parts like sprockets and periodically calibrate pressure gauges and other measuring devices. Replace V-belts with severe wear promptly.

Tuning
After installation, the machine must undergo a trial operation test.
Observe the correct direction of the main drum rotation by manually activating the main motor.
Check if the main roller and all transmission components rotate smoothly, observe if the steam inlet and outlet are connected, and if the pressure gauge is within the working pressure range.
Start the motor, the main roller operates smoothly. After the temperature rises, add the material and adjust the motor speed and the evenness of the film of material on the roller to control the final moisture content of the material.
Start the auger motor to discharge dried finished material, and adjust the auger motor speed according to the amount of dried finished material.
