Coated steel sheets, also known as color-coated steel plates, are produced on continuous mills using cold-rolled strip steel and galvanized strip steel (electro-galvanized and hot-dip galvanized) as the base material. The surface is pre-treated (degreasing and chemical treatment) before being coated with one or more layers of liquid paint using a roller coating method. The coated sheets are then baked and cooled to obtain the final product.
Due to the various colors available for the coating, the coated steel plate is commonly referred to as color coated steel plate. Additionally, as the coating is applied before the steel plate is formed and processed, it is called pre-coated steel plate internationally.
Color-coated steel sheets involve applying an organic coating to the surface of steel, offering aesthetic appeal, vibrant colors, high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and ease of processing and shaping. Additionally, they help users reduce costs and minimize pollution.
Since the establishment of the first continuous-coated steel sheet line in the U.S. in 1935, color-coated steel sheets have been widely utilized. There are over 600 varieties of color-coated plates.
Coated steel sheets combine the benefits of both organic polymers and steel plates, offering the excellent coloring, molding, corrosion resistance, decorative properties of organic polymers, as well as the high strength and ease of processing of steel plates.
The product made from organic coated steel sheets can be easily processed through stamping, cutting, bending, and deep drawing. This feature endows the product with excellent practicality, decorative qualities, processability, and durability.
