Safety Precautions for Spiral Blades
Tightened blades are indeed very important – tightened blades are more effective.
Slow and steady wins the race.
- Slow-feeding is better than fast-feeding.
Guiding the workpiece smoothly and gently into the blade is ideal—pushing it in is not as effective.
- If one side of a straight line is waste, cutting it slowly but not actually cutting it into a straight line is quite good. And once done, re-shave with lightning speed (very gently) and cutting straight will give you the straightest cuts you've ever made... really...
- Some spiral blades are easier to manage than others - the key variable is clearly the blade - and also the type of wood and the project's thickness. The experiment will tell you which blades are suitable for your work.
