Stone sculptures are artistic creations made from various types of stone, having certain shapes and volumes. The main types of stone commonly used for stone sculptures can be categorized into four: 1. Granite, known for its hardness and resistance to erosion from acids, alkalis, or weathering, maintaining its appearance and color for over a century, with a wide variety of patterns. 2. Marble, a limestone formed over geological ages, named after the Dali region in Yunnan Province. Marble has a soft, elegant, and dignified texture, making it ideal for luxurious architectural decorations and traditional art sculptures. 3. Hanbaiyu, a type of marble, is one of China's excellent building materials and also excellent for carving. Its pure white color and fine texture allow for intricate details in sculptures. 4. Qingshi, another type of marble with a bluish-gray color, primarily found in Hebei, Shandong, and Henan provinces, with the Hebei variety being closer to black. Sculptures carved from Qingshi have a very ancient look, making them suitable for creating stone Buddha figures in an antique style.
