Elliptical Head

The elliptical head, also known as an elliptic head or ellipsoid head, is composed of two parts: a rotating elliptical spherical surface and a cylindrical straight section. An elliptical head with a long-axis to short-axis ratio of 2.0 in the rotating elliptical spherical surface is commonly referred to as a standard elliptical head. The mechanical properties of the elliptical head are second only to those of the hemispherical head but superior to those of the dish head. Due to its properties being between those of the hemispherical and dish heads, the requirements for stamping equipment and molds, as well as the manufacturing difficulty, are also between the two, meaning it is easier than the hemispherical head but more difficult than the dish head. The elliptical head, with its comprehensive performance, is widely used in medium and low-pressure vessels. In recent years, the adoption of the spinning forming process has made it convenient to manufacture large-diameter elliptical heads.
