In recent years, the persistent cold rain and snow have gradually revealed the disadvantages of industrial deicing. In low temperatures, spreading salt often quickly freezes over. In fact, the role of industrial salt is to lower the freezing point, but if the temperatures remain consistently low, the freezing point cannot continue to decrease. Moreover, the saltwater that melts can lead to soil salinization. This is why new eco-friendly deicing agents have emerged.
The new eco-friendly deicing agent primarily consists of non-chlorine compounds, derived from corn straw and other plant residues through fermentation and advanced processing techniques. It is non-toxic and harmless, biodegradable in the natural environment, and has no impact on plants or the environment after application, nor does it corrode concrete or steel. Additionally, the non-chlorine deicing agent is capable of withstanding low temperatures, functioning normally at temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius. Currently, Beijing has piloted the use of non-chlorine deicing agents on key sections such as Chang'an Avenue and the airport expressway.
The product reacts with snow, causing it to melt and preventing freezing. Unlike the traditional sodium chloride de-icing agents used in previous years, the new calcium chloride de-icing agent has minimal impact on road surfaces.
