The small dredging boat, also known as a simple sand pumping boat, is a specialized water-based sand extraction equipment designed for narrow waterways and areas with low sand extraction requirements. Although its structure is simple, it is also well-equipped with features. Below, we introduce the characteristics and suitable working environments of the small dredging boat.
This sand mining equipment is powered by a sand pump, which extracts mud and water from the riverbed through the pump, then transfers them to a location for screening via a sand pipe, yielding an initial collection of river sand. It boasts a high level of automation and mechanization, capable of automatically completing the sand suction and separation process.
The small dredger is composed of parts such as the crew cabin, engine room, hull, flushing system, emptying system, and slurry pump. Depending on the sand extraction method, it can be categorized into two types: dump trucks and regular models. The walking speed is approximately 15km/h, powered by a diesel engine driving the propeller to perform sand mining.
After the sand barge is fully loaded, bring it to the shore and open the bottom hatch to allow the sand to leak onto the wharf. Then, use a cutter barge to pump the sand onto the wharf. For those closer to the shore, you can even directly use a vacuum pump to extract river sand and stack it for processing on the shore.
In recent years, small dredging boats have gained popularity due to their ease of operation and high efficiency. Beyond sand mining, they are also suitable for tasks such as reservoir sediment removal, coastal reclamation, and port and dock cleanup.
Be sure to note the following precautions when in use.
Before launching the small dredger, ensure the machinery is in proper working order, including checking if the sand suction rod has not left the sand layer and if the hull has grounded.
After the start-up, the sand suction rod should be slowly submerged into the water, first half of the way, and if no fault occurs, continue to lower it.
Prior to shutting down the machinery, ensure the sand-suction bucket of the sand-suction rod is empty.
In case of strong wind, secure the workboat with ropes.
