Grab bars, a boon for many disabled and elderly friends, are used in numerous locations.

Today, we share information on the installation of handrails for accessibility and the precautions to take. We hope this provides reference for your installation and construction process.

The height of the single-layer barrier-free handrail should be 850mm to 900mm, while the upper handrail of the double-layer barrier-free handrail should also be 850mm to 900mm, with the lower handrail height ranging from 650mm to 700mm.

2. Handrails should be continuous, with the starting and ending points of wall-mounted handrails extending horizontally for at least 300mm in length.

3. The end of the barrier-free handrail should bend inward towards the wall or extend downward for at least 100mm.

4. The distance between the inside of the barrier-free handrail and the wall shall be no less than 40mm.

5. Round, easy-to-grasp handrails with a diameter of 35mm.

Accessibility handrail installation precautions and specifications mainly fall into the following two situations:

1. Standard for Installing Handrails in Corridors and Hallways

1. Handrails should be installed on both sides of ramps, steps, and staircases, with a height of 0.85m. When two handrails are provided, the lower one should be 0.65m high.

2. The distance from the inside of the handrail to the wall should be 40-50mm.

3. Handles should be securely mounted and shaped for easy gripping.

Section 2: Installation specifications for accessible grab bars in bathrooms and public toilets, toilet aids, and safety handles

A safety grab bar should be installed 50mm from the sides and front edge of the washbasin.

2. Safety grab bars, 0.60-0.70m wide and 1.20m tall, should be installed on both sides and above the urinal.

3. The toilet is 0.45m tall, with 0.70m horizontal grab bars on both sides, and a 1.40m vertical grab bar on one side of the wall.

4. The diameter of the wheelchair railing should be 30-40mm.

5. The interior of the handrail should be 40mm from the wall.

6. The handle bar should be securely mounted.
