Introduction

Tubular heat exchangers are widely used in the chemical and alcohol production industries. They are primarily composed of a shell, tube plates, heat exchange tubes, end caps, and baffle plates. The materials can be made from carbon steel, copper, or stainless steel. During heat exchange, one fluid enters through the connection pipe at the end cap, flows through the tubes, and exits through the outlet pipe at the opposite end of the end cap, which is known as the tube side; the other fluid enters through the shell's inlet, and exits through another outlet on the shell, referred to as the shell side.


Working Principle

       The working principle of a tube bundle heat exchanger mainly consists of components such as the end caps, shell, tube bundle, and flanged connections. One working medium enters the heat transfer tubes through an inlet connection at the end cap, and its flow path can be designed to achieve a single-pass, double-pass, or four-pass structure according to process requirements. Another working medium enters the shell through an inlet connection at one end and is evenly distributed outside the heat transfer tubes; its flow state can be adjusted by setting different types and quantities of baffle plates within the tube bundle as per process requirements. As the heat transfer element—the heat exchange tubes—they can be made of brass, copper finned tubes, or steel pipes, depending on the process requirements, ensuring heat exchange within the exchanger for different physical properties and temperatures, achieving cooling or heating objectives.

       Excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature tolerance, good thermal conductivity, lightweight, small footprint, non-toxic, non-scaling, easy installation and maintenance, wide application, low cost, simple and compact structure, low fluid resistance, capable of manufacturing large equipment. However, it has lower pressure and temperature resistance than block hole style, suitable for environments with minimal impact and vibration, and is ideal for cooling and condenser applications. After special processing, it can also be used as general heating equipment.
