Construction sites for steel-structured buildings that cannot avoid the river, lake, or old riverbed areas prone to sliding or ground fissures during earthquakes should implement targeted foundation stabilization measures and enhance the integrity of the foundation.

When there is a liquefiable soil layer within the range of the foundation-bearing layer beneath the high-rise buildings in earthquake-prone areas, measures should be taken to mitigate the adverse effects of the soil liquefaction on the upper structure.

Eliminate the adverse effects of soil liquefaction and settlement on steel-structured buildings. We remind you to choose one of the following measures based on local conditions:

1: When reinforcing the foundation using methods such as vibration compaction, sand pile compaction, and dynamic compaction, the treatment should extend to the lower interface of the soil liquefaction depth. Additionally, the measured value of the standard penetration test锤击 numbers of the treated soil layer should be greater than the critical value for soil liquefaction. When using deep foundations, the depth of the foundation bottom below the stable soil layer beneath the liquid level should not be less than 500mm.

When using pile foundation in steel-structured buildings, the length of the pile tip extending into the stable soil layer below the liquefaction depth should be calculated based on the pile's bearing capacity, and it must not be less than the following values, and all the potentially liquefiable soil layers within the high-rise foundation's bearing layer should be excavated.
