Hydraulic cylinders come in a variety of structural types, with multiple classification methods: they can be categorized by motion as reciprocating linear motion or rotating oscillating motion; by the action of fluid pressure as single-acting or double-acting; by structural form as piston type, plunger type, multi-stage telescopic sleeve type, gear rack type, etc.; by installation type as tie rod, earring, base foot, pivot shaft, etc.; and by pressure rating as 16MPa, 25MPa, 31.5MPa, etc.

Piston

A single piston rod hydraulic cylinder has a piston rod on only one end. As shown in Figure 1, this is a single piston hydraulic cylinder. Both ends have oil ports A and B that can pass pressure oil or return oil, enabling bidirectional movement, hence the name double-acting cylinder.
