The circuit for the starting device consists of an increasing transformer, with T2 as a pulse transformer and C2 as a bypass capacitor. Upon circuit connection, the power supply voltage is stepped up by the increasing transformer and charged to C1. When the voltage on C1 reaches a certain level, it discharges through the spark gap G. At this point, the capacitor C1 and the primary coil of T2 form a decaying oscillation circuit, with the frequency value depending on the product of C1's capacitance and T2's primary coil inductance. Within this oscillation circuit, the frequency rises to around 100 kHz. This high-frequency voltage is then stepped up to 20-30 kV by T2. This voltage is applied across the ends of the xenon lamp tube via C2, causing the xenon gas to break down under the high-frequency voltage and transition to a self-sustaining arc discharge. At this moment, the lamp is lit, and S1 is opened to supply power directly from the municipal power grid.
