Honoring precision grinding processing

The advantages of honing processing:

(1) Wide range of processing, primarily used for precision finishing of holes such as cylindrical, stepped, blind, and conical holes. Also applicable to flat, spherical, and contoured surfaces, as well as external cylindrical surfaces. Honing can be performed on bore sizes of 1 to 1,200mm or more, with hole lengths up to 12,000mm. Virtually any workpiece material is suitable for honing processing.

       (2) High surface quality processing; the honed surface features a cross-hatched pattern, which is beneficial for the storage of lubricating oil and maintenance of the lubricating film, with excellent wear resistance and a long service life. Additionally, due to the honing speed being only a fraction of the general grinding speed, the grinding force and heat are minimal, preventing surface burns, cracks, alterations, and hardening layers on the workpiece.

       (3) High machining accuracy: When using honing to process the inner hole, the roundness and cylindricity can reach 0.005~0.01mm, and the surface roughness value Ra can be as low as 0.05~0.2μm. However, it does not improve position accuracy; it can replace some grinding processes, and has a processing efficiency comparable to grinding.

(4) Low precision requirement for machine tools - Honing processing can be performed on specialized honing machines, as well as on turning, boring, and drilling machines.
