Looking to add engraved stone to your garden but feeling overwhelmed? Concerned about selecting the wrong type? Today, the engraved stone manufacturer reveals the variety of stone materials available, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding and choose the perfect piece for you. Let's explore the types of stone materials used in engraved stones:
1. Yingshi: Limestone with a blue-gray or dark-gray hue, often featuring white calcite veining. Found in the Yingde area of Guangdong Province. The surface is characterized by swirling holes and dense folds due to the erosion and weathering of the mountain waters.
2. Axe-chiseled Stone: Sedimentary rock, featuring shades of light gray, dark gray, black, and earthy yellow. Found in the Changzhou area of Jiangsu Province. Characterized by vertical linear fibrous, strip-like, and sheet-like textures, also known as Sword Stone. The exterior is robust and powerful, yet prone to weathering and flaking.
3. Shishan Stone: A bamboo-leaf shaped limestone with light gray-green and earthen red hues, featuring eye socket-like depressions. Found in the Changshan and Yushan areas of Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces. The longer the shape, the more attractive it is; often, three sides are weathered while the backside shows artificial knife and axe marks.

4. Stone Mountain Caves: Consisting of stacked independent or semi-independent mountains of Yellow Stone, Lake Stone, outcrop stones, etc., commonly known as "stone embracing soil." Generally 3 to 5 meters high, with some reaching dozens of meters. Often designed with flower beds, ponds, water curtains, and caves at the foot of the mountains. Examples include the Red Rock in Longhua Park, Shanghai, and the Great Artificial Mountain in Shanghai Botanical Garden. This is the "artificial mountain" in the minds of many, commonly found in corporate green spaces, but not suitable for widespread promotion.
5. Laminated Sedimentary Rock: Characterized by iron gray with layers of light gray, it exhibits a natural and varied texture, primarily found in the regions of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui. The sedimentary rock features a variety of types and colors.
6. Retaining Stones: Commonly used types include Yellow Sandstone, Lake Stone, and Strata Stone. They are often stacked along water edges or at varying slopes of the mountain base, creating a高低起伏,前后错落 effect. They serve as retaining walls, providing both functionality and natural, aesthetic appeal.
7. Cliff Rockery: As described by Ming Jicheng in "Yuan Yi," "The cliff rockery is dependent on the wall, using the white wall as paper and stones as the paint." Commonly featuring English stone, lake stone, and劈石, these are complemented by plants, bas-reliefs, and flowing water. Perfectly suited for courtyard white-washed walls and hotel lobbies, they create a shimmering landscape painting that takes up minimal space.
8. Stone Waterfall: Based on garden terrain, yellow sandstone, lake stone, granite, and layered stone are piled up. Water is channeled from top to bottom, creating a waterfall cascade. This method is commonly referred to as "earth-covered-stone" and is a prevalent practice. Modern landscape stones primarily include marble, granite, slate, sandstone, cultural stone, and pebble types (including rain flower stones), with marble being less common (it is estimated that cost considerations for stone materials are the main factor).
