Revision history of ISO9001:2015 standard
To keep pace with the times and better lead users in the application of quality management concepts and tools, since the formal birth of ISO 9000 in 1987, the standard has undergone three formal revisions:
The revision took place in 1994. It retained the concept of quality assurance, with the traditional manufacturing imprint still quite evident.
The second revision took place in 2000. It represented a significant change in terms of concept, structure, and essence. The introduction of basic principles such as "customer focus" and "process approach" elevated the standard from quality assurance to quality management from a systematic perspective. It also diminished the original manufacturing characteristics, making it more adaptable.
2008 marked the third revision, resulting in the standard fourth version, which is currently in effect. This revision was categorized as an "editorial change," with no significant alterations.
Comprehensive management system conforming to ISO 45001, operated as an integrated management system under a unified framework through certain methods and approaches.
Integrated management systems are differentiated into narrow and broad categories. Narrowly defined, an integrated management system includes systems such as integrating the aforementioned "two standards" or "three standards"; broadly defined, it encompasses systems like intensive integrated management systems.
An intensive and integrated management system, which is an expansion and enhancement of the integrated management of "multiple standards" such as QHSE (Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, Occupational Health and Safety Management System). The integrated management system formed by the integration of QHSE and other "multiple standards" is a standalone system; however, when viewed from the perspective of the enterprise as a whole and from a systemic and overall objective standpoint, the QHSE management is still operating as a separate system from other numerous specialized management aspects within the enterprise. In the intensive and integrated management system described in this book, quality management, environmental management, and occupational health and safety management are merely important components of the management system.
