(1) Biofilter Disinfection Method: The aeration biofilter method is a dual-functional process that combines biological degradation and filtration to treat organic matter in wastewater. It primarily handles organic pollutants emitted from operating rooms, wards, and laboratories, among other departments, to make sewage suitable for reasonable oxidation and utilization. However, the process is complex, with high load and relatively high costs, making it suitable for large hospitals where it achieves good treatment results.
(2) Ozone Additive: Ozone has bactericidal properties and can effectively remove bacteria and microorganisms from hospital wastewater. Unlike other additives, ozone does not cause secondary pollution and fully decomposes in water. Therefore, ozone generators are widely used for sterilizing wastewater.
(3) Chlorine Dioxide Disinfection Method: The chlorine dioxide disinfection method is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an effective and powerful germicide due to its 99% sterilization efficiency and its immunity to the acidity or alkalinity of water, as well as to ammonia and amines. It is internationally recognized as the ideal updated alternative for wastewater disinfection, characterized by its simple treatment process, noticeable effects, and moderate costs, making it widely used in hospital wastewater disinfection.
(4) Sodium Hypochlorite Generator Disinfection Method: Sodium hypochlorite is a strong oxidizing and disinfecting agent, which is produced through the electrolysis of a dilute solution of widely available and inexpensive industrial salt or seawater without a diaphragm. To ensure the freshness and high activity of sodium hypochlorite, and to guarantee the disinfection effect, the device continuously produces and adds the generated sodium hypochlorite for use. Compared to chlorine and its compounds, it has the same oxidizing and disinfecting properties.
Chlorine Dioxide Generators are primarily used for hospital wastewater treatment containing bacteria, electroplating wastewater treatment with cyanide, and can also be applied for disinfection in swimming pools, drinking water, domestic wastewater, food processing plant environments, medical devices, restaurants, and public canteens for utensil and beverage sterilization.
