When cutting metal, laser cutting can be employed, which is done using a laser cutting machine. How about the precision of laser cutting? It depends on the worktable's accuracy; the higher the worktable's precision, the higher the cutting precision. As the workpiece thickness increases, the precision decreases, resulting in wider cut slots. The material also affects the precision of laser cutting; under the same conditions, stainless steel has a higher cutting precision and smoother cut surfaces than aluminum.
Note that the smaller the laser beam spot after focusing, the higher the cutting accuracy, especially for narrow seams, where the smallest spot can reach 0.01mm.
Of course, the accuracy of laser cutting can also be tested. Nanjing Chenghui Hardware & Machinery Factory shares the method:
After installing the laser cutting machine, the operator can attach a marking device to the nozzle of the laser cutting machine. By using the marking device, a simulated cutting pattern is drawn, which is a 1-meter square with an embedded 1-meter diameter circle. Diagonal lines are drawn at each corner, and after completing the marking, the tool is used to measure whether the drawn circle is tangent to the four sides of the square.
The diagonal length of the square should be approximately 1.41 meters, with the central axis of the circle dividing the square's sides evenly. Additionally, the points where the central axis intersects the square's sides should be equidistant from the square's focal points, at a distance of 0.5 meters. By testing the distance between the diagonals and the intersection points, we can assess the cutting precision of the laser cutting machine.
