January 15th news, according to yesterday's report by The Economic Times of India, insiders revealed that the Indian giant Tata Electronics is in negotiations with Xiaomi and OPPO to begin manufacturing for Chinese smartphone companies.
One insider said, "Tata Electronics has realized that to become a top-tier participant in the electronic manufacturing services (EMS) ecosystem, it must now focus on expanding its scale."
"They (Tata Electronics) have been in negotiations with top Chinese smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi and OPPO, to start producing components for them," the person added.
Tata Electronics has previously been involved in the production of iPhone casings for Apple and is increasingly emulating the Foxconn model. It aims to enhance its value chain by manufacturing components such as smartphone cameras and display modules.
As of the time of our article, Tata Electronics, Xiaomi, and OPPO have not responded.
