January 6th News: According to a report from the South China Morning Post, TDK Corporation (Tokyo Electronical Chemical), a renowned Japanese electronics component manufacturer and a major supplier of iPhone batteries, will launch an upgraded version of its most advanced product this year to meet the increasing power demands of in-built AI in smartphones.
TDK CEO Noboru Saito revealed in an interview that the company plans to begin mass production of the third-generation silicon anode batteries from late summer. While the manufacturing process is more complex, these batteries can carry more energy than traditional ones. At the same time, the acceptance of these batteries by Chinese smartphone manufacturers also gives him hope for future development.
On the other side, new energy companies LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI have also recognized the potential of silicon batteries, both of which are developing battery products for new energy vehicles.
