November 17th news, Tesla announced that it will soon install V4 Supercharger cabinet and achieve a charging power of 500kW.
Tesla has been deploying new charging stations for two years, calling them "Supercharger V4," but the company has only installed V4 charging桩. Superchargers consist of two main parts: the charging桩 (where the charging cables are located) and the charging桩 cabinet (usually situated further away, containing all the power electronics).
However, Tesla's so-called new "V4 Supercharger stations" are actually using V3 Supercharger cabinet units, which limits the power output of the charging stations to 250kW.
This week, Tesla officially unveiled its "V4 Charging Station Cabinet," which is said to provide up to 500kW of charging power for cars and 1.2MW for Semi trucks.
Here are the main features of the V4 Charging Pile Cabinet:
Faster Charging Speeds: Supports vehicle architectures up to 400V-1000V, including providing Cybertruck with a 30% faster charging speed. The S3XY model can enjoy the same 250kW charging rate as the V3 charging cabinet, achieving a 200-mile charge in just 15 minutes (Note: Approximately 321.87 kilometers).
Faster Deployment: The V4 Charging Station Cabinet powers 8 charging station slots, doubling the number of slots per cabinet. Smaller footprint and lower complexity mean more sites can be launched faster.
Next-Generation Hardware: The most advanced power electronics equipment, designed to be the most reliable on Earth, boasting a 3x increase in power density and the ability to achieve higher throughput at a lower cost.
Tesla states that the first sites equipped with V4 charging station cabinets are currently applying for permits, with the company anticipating that these initial sites will open next year.
