Enhancing mechanical maintenance of horizontal continuous casting machines can increase their operational rate and production output. The mechanical maintenance equipment is installed outside the production line of the horizontal continuous casting machine, and its application scope includes removing the four major equipment components of the casting machine from the production line due to factors such as the end of steel casting life, nozzle blockage, or regular replacement, and transporting them to the line outside for maintenance.
All maintenance operations can now be completed online, and the only impact on the production rate of the continuous casting machine is the time required for the replacement and lifting of the online equipment. This is a significant improvement over the past, when most maintenance work was conducted "online," saving a considerable amount of time. As a result, the operational rate of modern slab continuous casting machines can reach 70-80%, and even exceed 90%.
During the repair process, a certain number of equipment units are configured according to production requirements for each repair job. The repair department categorizes and organizes these devices, establishes files, and monitors their repair quality and usage to ensure the repaired equipment remains in perfect condition.
The modern slab caster is not as bulky as people might imagine; some parts require quite high precision. With dedicated mechanical maintenance equipment and facilities, the conditions are met to achieve the precision levels of the caster's individual equipment. Since the main equipment is always in good condition, this lays the foundation for improving the quality of the slabs.
