I. Definition

Coolers are a type of heat exchange equipment used for cooling fluids. They typically use water or air as cooling agents to dissipate heat.

II. Applicability Scope

Suitable for various operating conditions such as coolers, condensers, heating, evaporation, and waste heat recovery.

Section 3: Categorization

Tubular cooler

Tube-in-tube coolerComposed of the external shell and the internal cooler body. Due to varying structural designs, it is categorized into pipe thread and flange connections externally; into horizontal and vertical installations; into floating disc and floating head types; into coiled tube and finned tube structures for the cooler tubes; and into various structures such as arch baffles, rectangular baffles, double weir baffles, and circular baffles for the baffle design, all selected based on specific conditions.

② Principle

The heat medium of the tube bundle cooler enters through the inlet headers on the cylinder, sequentially passing through each baffled passageway, and曲折ly flows to the outlet headers. The cooling medium utilizes a two-pass flow, where the cooling medium enters half of the cooler tubes via the inlet, then flows back through the return water cover into the other half of the cooler tubes, entering the other side of the water distribution cover and the outlet pipe. During the two-pass flow of the cold medium, it absorbs the excess heat released by the heat medium and discharges it through the outlet, maintaining the working medium at the rated operating temperature.

Plate-type coolers are a new type of heat exchange equipment featuring high heat transfer efficiency, compact structure, small land occupation, and easy installation. They can be conveniently combined into any flow form according to different process requirements. Therefore, they are widely used in various industrial fields such as petrochemical, chemical, metallurgy, machinery, light industry, food, power, coating, and heating. Compared to water-cooled radiators, they not only have simple installation and maintenance but also prevent the mixing of oil and water due to burst copper pipes, thereby avoiding severe damage to the system. Furthermore, for equipment that requires relocation (such as construction machinery), they eliminate the need for water supply considerations and the dismantling and reconstruction of water circulation systems, making them increasingly popular eco-friendly products.

Four: Installation Method

 Cooler installation methods are categorized as:Vertical Cold Oil SeparatorAndHorizontal Cool Oil ExchangerVertical coolers feature a small required installation area and easy installation. Horizontal cool oilers have characteristics such as lower pressure drop and strong resistance to water impact. Therefore, selecting the appropriate vertical or horizontal cool oiler based on different site conditions, space heights, and performance requirements can better meet the needs of generators and other equipment.

CoolerPressure TestUpon qualification, the equipment can be put into use, and all internal water should be drained before operation.

(2) Check if all drain cocks and vent valves are functioning smoothly and are in the correct on/off positions, and ensure that all pressure gauges and thermometers are properly installed.

(3) Inspect the foundation and supports for stability, and ensure that all bolts are fully engaged and securely tightened.

(4) When in use, first introduce cold flow, followed by hot flow.

(5) When using cold or hot mediums, ensure the auxiliary line is clear first, then gradually open the outlet valve. After confirming there are no issues, open the inlet valve slowly to prevent pressure build-up. Monitor the equipment's changes during the operation. After the cooler is in use, leaks may occur with changes in temperature and pressure, so inspections should be conducted promptly.
