I. Definition

Coolers are a type of heat exchange equipment used for cooling fluids. They typically use water or air as the cooling agent to dissipate heat.

II. Applicable Range

Suitable for various processes such as cooling, condensation, heating, evaporation, and waste heat recovery.

III. Categories

Tubular cooler

Tubular coolerComposed of the outer shell and the internal cooler body. Due to varying structural designs, it is divided into pipe thread and flange connections externally; into horizontal and vertical installations; into floating disc and floating head types; into helical and finned tube structures for the cooler tubes; and into various structures such as arch baffles, rectangular baffles, double weir baffles, and circular baffles, all selected based on specific conditions.

② Principle

The heat medium of the tube-type cooler enters through the header on the cylinder, sequentially flows through each bend passage, and twists to the header outlet. The cooler medium utilizes a two-pass flow, where the medium enters half of the cooler tubes via the inlet and then flows into the other half through the return water cover, to another side water separator, and finally into the outlet pipe. During the two-pass flow, the cold medium absorbs the excess heat released by the heat medium and discharges it through the outlet, maintaining the working medium at the rated operating temperature.

Four: Installation Method

 Cooler installation methods are categorized as:Vertical Oil CoolerAndHorizontal Cool Oil UnitVertical coolers feature a small required installation area and easy installation. Horizontal cool oilers have lower pressure drop and strong resistance to water impact. Therefore, choosing the correct vertical or horizontal cool oiler based on different site conditions, space height, and performance requirements can better meet the needs of generator sets and other equipment.

(2) Check if all drain and vent valves are operational and easy to use, as well as the positions of the switches. Verify that the pressure gauge and thermometer are fully installed.

(3) Inspect the base and supports for stability, and ensure that all bolts are fully tightened and secured.

(4) In use, first introduce cold flow, followed by hot flow.

(5) When using cold or hot mediums, first ensure the auxiliary line is clear, then gradually open the outlet valve, check for any issues, and then open the inlet valve slowly to prevent overpressure. Monitor the equipment's changes during the startup process. After the cooler is operational, leakage may occur as temperature and pressure change, so timely inspection is required.
