I. Definition

Coolers are a type of heat exchange equipment used for cooling fluids. They typically use water or air as the cooling medium to dissipate heat.

II. Applicability Scope

Suited for various processes such as cooler, condensation, heating, evaporation, and waste heat recovery.

III. Categories

Tubular cooler

Shell and Tube CoolersComposed of the outer shell and the internal cooler body. Due to different structural methods, it is divided into threaded pipe connection and flange connection externally; into horizontal and vertical installation forms; into floating disc and floating head floating forms; into helical tube and finned tube cooler tube structures; and into various structural forms such as arch baffle plates, rectangular baffle plates, double weir baffle plates, and circular baffle plates, all selected according to specific conditions.

② Principle

The heat medium of the tube bundle cooler enters through the header on the cylinder, sequentially flows through each bend passage, and twists to the header outlet. The cooling medium, however, uses a two-pass flow, where the cooling medium enters half of the cooler tubes via the water distribution cover, then flows back through the return water cover into the other half of the cooler tubes, entering the other side water distribution cover and outlet pipe. During the two-pass flow, the cold medium absorbs the excess heat released by the heat medium and discharges it through the outlet, maintaining the rated working temperature of the working medium.

Four: Installation Method

 Cooling unit installation methods include:Vertical Cold Oil CoolerAndHorizontal Cool Oil CoolerThe vertical cooler features a small required installation area and easy installation. The horizontal cooler has the advantages of lower pressure drop and strong resistance to water impact. Therefore, selecting the vertical or horizontal cooler according to different site requirements, space height, and performance needs can better meet the requirements of power generators and other equipment.

(2) Check if all drain cocks and vent valves are operable and the switch positions are correct, and ensure that all pressure gauges and thermometers are properly installed.

(3) Inspect the base and support for stability, and ensure all bolts are fully and securely fastened.

(4) When in use, first introduce cold flow, followed by hot flow.

(5) When using cold or hot media, first ensure the auxiliary line is clear, then gradually open the outlet valve, check for any issues, and then open the inlet valve, making sure to open it slowly to prevent pressure build-up. Pay attention to observing changes in the equipment during the operation. After the cooler is put into use, leakage may occur due to changes in temperature and pressure, and it should be checked promptly.
