It is a well-suited, relatively soft wood with uniform structure, strong stability, moderate density, and average shrinkage. Radiata pine logs are free from heart rot and insect infestation when intact. The use of Radiata pine is widespread primarily due to its superior nail holding, better penetration, strong resistance to decay, drying, solidification, and ease of coloring, all of which are superior to other wood species.
