The plant Haemanthus albiflos jacq. is a member of the genus Haemanthus within the Amaryllidaceae family.Stemless, with grape-like rhizomes; leaves are basal, upright, hard leathery, linear lanceolate or narrowly lanceolate, with a lingulate tip and a green pointed apex, narrowing into a grooved petiole at the base, dark green with alternating light and dark green stripes, slightly dusted with a fine powder, and the margin is green. Flowers are white to pale green, fragrant, blooming in spring and summer, and the berries are spherical.
Spathiphyllum originates from southern Africa and was later introduced to China.Prefers warm and humid conditions, with an optimal growing temperature of 16-21°C, and night temperatures between 10-12°C. Preferable in semi-shaded environments during summer. Thrives in loose, fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic sandy loam soil. Cold tolerance is weak, making it unsuitable for outdoor overwintering in North and East China regions. Propagation is commonly done through division, but also by sowing.
Orchids are excellent ornamental foliage plants, with broad, slightly curved leaves and a graceful posture. Each August, they bear yellow-stemmed white flowers at the top.
