The dredger primarily uses a suction pump for mud extraction, making the suction pump an indispensable component. Particularly in cutter suction dredgers, they rely entirely on the suction pump to bring up silt. Therefore, regular maintenance and care for the dredger's suction pump are essential to ensure its higher efficiency during excavation operations.
Sediment Pump Lubrication
Suction dredges operate by lubricating the bearing components, which, without lubrication, would increase friction between parts and, in severe cases, pose a risk of seizing. Therefore, it is essential to regularly apply lubricant to the dredge during regular use to ensure that all components function normally.
2. Corrosion Maintenance
Sediment pumps frequently come into contact with sludge and water during operation. Over time, a large amount of sludge and water splashing onto the pump can lead to oxidation if not regularly maintained. Although the outer shell is coated with waterproof paint, prolonged use can cause varying degrees of paint chipping. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly repaint the waterproof coating and ensure proper waterproofing of the sediment pump.
3. Replacement of the Blades
Blades may experience varying degrees of wear after prolonged use, thus regular inspection and maintenance are highly necessary. Should the blade wear become severe, it is imperative to replace them immediately to ensure the sump pump operates effectively.
