Bevel gears

Bevel gears, also known as cone gears. They are commonly used for power transmission between two perpendicular shafts, but also suitable for shafts at other angles. A typical application is driving a vertical pump with a horizontal drive unit. The two main differences between bevel gears and spur gears are their shapes and their relationship to the shafts. Bevel gears are conical in shape, whereas spur gears are originally cylindrical. Bevel gears transmit motion between two angled shafts, or intersecting shafts, while spur gears transmit motion between parallel shafts.
