During operation, if the water tank in an explosion-proof electric heater is empty or has insufficient water below a certain level, the heating state is referred to as dry burning. This is not the intended operational state but rather an unintended consequence of an unexpected system malfunction due to the electric heating element. Continuing this condition can lead to unimaginable consequences. To prevent the explosion-proof heater from entering a dry burning state, products on the market are equipped with various temperature controllers or thermal protectors. These accessories can disconnect the circuit and stop heating once the water temperature at the test point reaches the set value. Similarly, they will automatically close when the water temperature at the test point drops to the lower limit. The concern over the dry burning of explosion-proof heaters is due to the fact that dry burning allows the high heat generated by the heater to be directly transferred to the connection points of the water tank, repeatedly heating them. This can damage critical components such as the sealing ring, insulation layer, and water tank, posing significant hazards.

When using explosion-proof electric heaters, they must never be placed near flammable or explosive materials; a safe distance must be maintained. Additionally, the explosion-proof heaters must be placed on a non-conductive, non-flammable base; the safe current-carrying capacity of the wires must meet the capacity requirements of the explosion-proof heater.

To prevent dry burning of electric heaters, products on the market are equipped with various temperature controllers or thermal protectors. These accessories disconnect the circuit and stop heating once the water to be heated reaches the set temperature at the test point; they also automatically close when the water temperature at the test point drops to the lower limit.

Why there is concern about electric heaters drying out is because dry-out causes the high heat produced by the electric heater to directly conduct to the water tank connection area, repeatedly heating it, which can damage important components such as the sealing ring, insulation, and water tank, posing a significant risk.

After an electric heater is plugged into the tank of a water heater, it becomes a storage electric water heater. This device must be equipped with an automatic reset thermostat as well as a non-automatic reset device specifically designed to prevent dry burning. This feature effectively prevents the occurrence of dry burning. With this mechanism in place, the circuit is automatically disconnected and heating is terminated when the amount of heated water in the water heater falls below a certain level. This prevents the severe consequences of dry burning accidents caused by electric heaters and also helps to extend the lifespan of the electric heater.
